I am not a fan - especially with the recent Coachella 2011 event where it looked like a knock-off pow wow (bad joke?). Anyways, I've seen too many 'war bonnets' made in China and dyed synthetic feathers and tacky pony beads.
Until I saw Lucy Hale in the season premier of Pretty Little Liars:
I love these earrings because well, they look the most 'Native' to me and the work is beautiful.A simple Google search found my answer as to who sold these: The White Telephone (hah!) which appears to sell jewelry overseas from various designers, and our lucky designer is Jacquie Aiche. Aiche is from California and makes super cute jewelry and from her bio, she is Egyptian (from her father) and her mother is Native American (yay, handcrafted Native jewelry!)
The earrings ran for $100.00, which isn't too steep as I've seen these at pow wows for only $20.00-$30.00 cheaper. The other earrings by Aiche are sold for $90.00 (she hand makes them all), but I've seen these for $40.00, I won't make any accusations against her pricing as the time, material and prices for S&H can all add up! But here they are..

Just thought I'd share her work and the fact the earrings were worn by Hale throughout the entire season premiere (Go #NativeAwesome!) - I'd rather see this type of fashion out there than what many of us are familiar with...
Until next time,
Neech.
